Both SensMax SE and SensMax DE use infrared beams to detect people walking by. The sensors are installed on two opposite sides of a trail, bridge, or entrance. When someone walks through, the invisible infrared beam is interrupted, and the sensor counts the person.

The sensors store data in internal memory, and you can collect this data using a handheld manual data collector. After collecting the data, just connect the collector to your computer and open the free SensMax EasyReport software to view charts and reports.
Installation Details
- Pick the location – Choose a spot like a trail entrance, park gate, or bridge where people walk through in a straight line.
- Install sensors – Mount one sensor on each side of the path using double-sided adhesive tape or screws. The best distance is 1m to 5m, but they can work up to 10m.
- Check the alignment – Make sure the two sensors face each other and the infrared beam travels directly across the path.
- Turn on the sensors – Insert standard AA batteries. The sensors will start counting automatically.
- Collect data – Use the manual collector every few weeks or months, depending on how busy your location is.
